Chimeric Dysplasia is a point-and-click puzzle game.

This prototype was made in two-weeks for the Unlikely Collaborators Game Jam 2026. My goal was to make a surreal somewhat liminal puzzle game to capture the existential angst of being recently unemployed and relying on escapism to cope.

The theme of the jam was Awe. Gameplay-wise that inspired the concept of switching between different dimensions to progress the game.

I have plans for further content past the game’s current ending, but decided to focus on polishing the prototype’s section first. If there is a positive reception and people want more, I’ll continue making my vision for the full game after the Game Jam.

Can't play due to the CRT + flickering effects. What is that supposed to be adding to the game experience? It's just migraine inducing and obnoxious.

I'll look into making those effects optional in a future update :)

I was hoping there would be an option in settings to turn that out as well since it’s not showing in the screenshots in the page. These look great.

I still played a little more until I got an error:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot set properties of null (setting ‘baseTexture’)

It happened when I was navigating in the regular world using the arrow keys.

What version were you playing? The browser version or one of the downloadable versions?

The browser version. Chrome on Windows. Actually, I was able to reproduce it. Start a new game and after the introductory text press the left/right arrow keys in quick succession. Maybe add some delay there?

The different environments look good, but being able to see the crafting recipes from the start meant there wasn't really much of a puzzle element. It was more of a "click on all the spots, then craft all the things" story. But I can see the bones of something good here!

Good point. I was relying on a plugin for crafting to save time that is admittedly more RPG crafting than the Resident Evil style puzzle crafting I originally envisioned. I'll work on that in a future update :)
