Apoxia
Apoxia is a horror text-based RPG that plunges you into the decaying town of Barkworth, where fear and desperation have taken root. As Genevieve, a woman grappling with her own secrets, you’ll navigate a community on the brink of collapse. Strange monsters lurk in the catacombs beneath the town, blamed for a rising tide of disappearances and a plague ravaging the city. But as you uncover the truth, you’ll find that the line between monster and victim is far blurrier than anyone dares to admit.
I originally planned for this to be a horror cRPG where the player would actually walk around a map and interact with the townspeople, but halfway through trying to edit a premade asset pack to suit my vision, I realized I'd rather spend this game jam creating a strong piece for my writing portfolio and decided to switch it to being a solely text-based experience instead. I really like the script I came up with and if I can find the right collaborators I will definitely adapt it into being the full-blown horror cRPG experience I originally planned with custom assets and maybe expanded content.
